Join the Florida Forward Party Executive Committee
The Florida Forward Party is expanding the membership of our Executive Committee. If you are interested in joining us or know someone who would be a great member, read on. Hopefully we answer your questions below. If not, please reach out to the Executive Committee at [email protected].
What is the Florida Forward Party?
The Florida Forward Party (FFP) is part of a national political movement — one that puts people over partisan games, focuses on practical solutions, and believes in grace and tolerance as the foundation for collaboration. We believe in empowering communities from the bottom up, fostering respectful dialogue, and reforming the political process to better serve voters.
As a state chapter of the national Forward Party, we’re committed to leading with transparency, integrity, and innovation. Our work centers on building a durable, inclusive movement that reflects the diverse voices of Floridians ready for a new way forward.
What is the Executive Committee?
The Executive Committee (EC) is the leadership body responsible for steering the direction, strategy, and operations of the Florida Forward Party. EC members are trusted with advancing the party’s mission, strengthening its infrastructure, and supporting candidates, volunteers and local leaders across the state.
The EC works collaboratively, makes strategic decisions, and serves as a working board — not just oversight, but hands-on leadership. It’s a dynamic, mission-driven group for people who are ready to roll up their sleeves and build something meaningful.
What is expected of EC members?
This is a volunteer position with statewide responsibilities. The work is typically not glamorous or easy, but it is fulfilling and important. EC members are expected to:
- Serve a 4-year term
- Contribute 5–10 hours per week to party work - more if you want!
- Attend bi-weekly EC meetings, held on Sunday evenings via Google Meet
- Travel to at least one in-person EC meeting per year, typically in September or October — travel is self-funded.
- Actively participate in setting and executing strategic priorities
- As we build out our organization, we also are actively involved in implementing our priorities. We think of ourselves as player-coaches. So our activities also include recruiting individual volunteers, coordinating event logistics, approving press releases, interviewing endorsee applicants, updating our state dashboard, and more. As we recruit more volunteers, we hand off these activities.
- Collaborate with other EC members, national Forward staff, and local organizers
- Model and uphold the Forward Party’s values, especially grace and tolerance, solution orientation, and bottom-up governance
Why are we expanding the Executive Committee?
For most of our history, the EC comprised seven members. Because of attrition (personal commitments, moving out of state, etc.), our team is now four. Thus, we intend to rebuild to seven.
Executive Committee members can be determined by the Executive Committee, by a vote of the statewide party, or by a combination of the two. We are implementing this third approach now.
Who should join?
We encourage anyone who shares our Forward values and embraces the requirements of the role to step forward. Not surprisingly, qualities such as leadership, entrepreneurship, collaboration, and transparency are important.
EC members play various roles – Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, etc. – and lead various workstreams – Volunteers, Candidates & Campaigns, Communications & Marketing, Fundraising, Legislative Initiatives, Infrastructure, etc. People who can contribute in any of these areas are encouraged to apply. We especially need people with skills associated with the Treasurer role and the Fundraising and Communications & Marketing workstreams.
How to apply?
If you believe in Forward’s mission and are ready to help shape Florida’s political future, we want to hear from you!
